2026 Library Levy receives overwhelming voter support
Seattle voters are on track to overwhelmingly approve the 2026 Library Levy!
Proposition 1, which provides The Seattle Public Library with $480 million over the next seven years, is passing with more than 72% support.
This result is possible thanks to the commitment of people like you. You stand with the Library as patrons, donors, advocates, and voters. We are grateful for your belief in the value of libraries to our community. Thank you, Seattle!
Passing this Levy secures our vision of the Library as a place where knowledge flourishes and people find belonging. It means the Library can make available the books you love and the programs you rely on, and upgrade spaces that are inviting to people of all ages and backgrounds.
The Foundation is proud to have advocated for this essential effort. Thank you to the Yes Seattle Libraries campaign, the Friends of SPL, our Board, and so many grassroots volunteers who spoke up on behalf of the Library.
Our sincere thanks to Mayor Wilson and the Seattle City Council for putting forward a strong Levy proposal that reflects the wishes of the people of Seattle.
We look forward to enhancing the opportunities the Levy will provide in the coming years. Our mission has always been to catalyze and fund key programs, and this result sets us up to support the Library’s transformation toward the Library of the Future.
We are truly inspired by everyone who helped achieve this incredible success. Thank you for being part of this important chapter in our Library’s story.
