READ WRITE LEARN Endowed Fund for Children and Youth Programs

Books are anchors and adventures, companions, connectors, and teachers. Lynn Frances Guthrie, the owner of READ WRITE LEARN, believes that reading and writing are keys that open doors and save lives. Her work has involved reading to preschool children as a volunteer for Washington Literacy, and teaching reading and writing skills to K-8 students through the Seattle Public Schools’ Powerful Readers Program. Since 2008, her work has also included the daily operation of READ WRITE LEARN, where her mission is to instill a love of reading and writing in students of all levels. The establishment of the READ WRITE LEARN Endowed Fund takes this mission one step further. Through partnership with Seattle Public Schools and community organizations, The Seattle Public Library will continue to reach both struggling and successful students, offering words on the page as well as structured programs to encourage reading, writing, and learning for many years to come.
